1. Abstract
Count er-St rike is a modificat ion of Half-life, which is an online video game of t he First Person Shoot er (FPS) genre. This game split s t he players int o 2 t eams: t he t errorist s and t he count er-t errorist s; one of t hem has an obj ect ive t o complet e (i.e.: rescuing host ages, blast ing a bombsit e wit h C4, rescuing a VIP) while t he ot her one has t o t ry and prevent t hem achieving it . The t ype of obj ect ive t hat one of t he t eam will be asked t o achieve is defined by t he map (t he pre-defined world where t he game will t ake place), and t he game on each map is sub-divided in rounds. A round ends when one t eam is dead or has achieved t heir obj ect ive, or when t he t imer reaches 0. When a player is killed, he re-spawns at t he beginning of t he next round. This game modificat ion was developed in 1999 and is -over t he last 4 years- t he most played mult iplayer online game. This guide has been writ t en for a variant of Count er-St rike, called " pist ols only" where only handguns, grenades and knifes are considered as valid weapons.

The set of guidelines in t his document should be considered as suggest ions t o players regarding t he st rat egic aspect of t his game, t hey are not a way t o achieve guarant eed vict ory.
